How to grow woodruff

How to grow woodruff

1. Breeding methods

1. Light: Osmanthus fragrans needs sufficient light. Although it tolerates partial shade, long-term lack of light can cause various diseases. At the same time, avoid exposure to sunlight and move it to a place with scattered light in summer.

2. Soil: Osmanthus fragrans has no special requirements for the soil, as long as it has good drainage. In addition, the soft and fertile soil is conducive to the absorption of nutrients by its roots, allowing it to thrive.

3. Watering: The water demand of wood fragrance flower varies in different seasons. Water less in winter, just keep the soil moist. Water more often in spring, once in the morning and once in the evening, and increase the amount of water during the peak growing season. Water evaporates faster in summer, so you should water more often.

4. Fertilization: You can apply more fertilizer to the wood fragrance flower. First of all, there must be enough base fertilizer, usually animal manure or bean cake. Secondly, liquid fertilizer should be applied every 15 days. Apply concentrated fertilizer before germination, but stop fertilizing during the flowering period, and continue to apply liquid fertilizer after the flowers fade. After winter, apply decomposed organic fertilizer again.

2. Breeding techniques

The woodruff can be propagated by sowing, division, cutting, layering and grafting. Among them, cuttings are more commonly used and have a high survival rate. Choose healthy branches as cuttings, dip the cut surface in wood ash to prevent rot, and then plant them in the soil. The temperature should be controlled at 20-25 degrees and the substrate should be kept moist.

3. Pest and disease control

1. Diseases: Powdery mildew, black spot and anthracnose are more common, usually due to poor ventilation or insufficient light, which causes the plants to become sick. You need to cut off the diseased branches and leaves first, and spray with pesticides for prevention and control.

2. Pests: Common pests include beetles, aphids and scale insects. You can first remove the pests manually, and then spray pesticides to kill the nymphs.
