Gardenia's Habits

Gardenia's Habits

1. Slightly like sunshine

Gardenia likes a little sunlight and is suitable for growing in a semi-shady environment. It cannot accept strong sunlight stimulation and can be grown in a diffuse light environment. Only 2-3 hours of light a day is needed. However, sufficient light is required in winter to promote nutrient synthesis. Pay attention to shade in summer and avoid exposure to the scorching sun.

2. Prefer acidic soil

It likes to grow in acidic loam and is prone to chlorosis in alkaline soil, causing its growth to become weak. If the potting soil becomes alkaline due to long-term watering, you can mix ferrous sulfate with clean water and then water it into the flowerpot. Apply it once every 15 days. This will improve the pH value of the potting soil and is beneficial to plant growth.

3. Prefer high humidity environment

Its native place is in the south, so it is suitable for growing in an environment with high humidity. In addition to watering the roots, it is also necessary to spray water to maintain humidity and spray more water around and on the ground. This can increase the humidity in the air and achieve the environment required for plant growth. You can also increase humidity by immersing the flower pot in a basin of water.

4. Ability to be pruned

It has a strong ability to sprout, so if it is not pruned for a period of time, the branches will easily grow messy and messy. It can withstand pruning and needs to be pruned in time during the breeding process.
