Where does Sichuan pepper come from in Shaanxi and how to breed it?

1. Origin

Shaanxi peppercorns can be said to be very common, and the area where peppercorns are planted is relatively large. The largest number of peppercorns are grown in Hancheng, Fuping and Fengxian in Shaanxi, and the quality of the peppercorns grown there is also relatively high. The most important ones are Hancheng and Fengxian, which have become the hometown of Sichuan pepper. Except Shaanxi, it is planted in most parts of our country, such as Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Northeast China and Guangdong.

2. Breeding Methods

1. Sowing: It can be done in spring or autumn. If sowing in spring, the seeds need to be processed by stratified sand storage method, and then sown together with cow dung. If sowing in autumn, it is necessary to defatted and stored. After sowing, cover it with a one centimeter layer of soil, and seedlings will grow in less than a week.

2. Division: Use a sharp tool to ring the tiller seedlings, and then bury them in the prepared soil. It will take about a growing season to separate them from the mother plant.

3. Cutting: Use a knife to cut a branch from a mother plant that is less than 5 years old. After cutting the branches, soak them in rooting water for half an hour, so that they will grow roots in a shorter time.
