How to grow miniature coconut palms

How to grow miniature coconut palms

1. Maintenance methods

1. Temperature: Miniature coconut palm is suitable for growing in a warm environment. Specifically, between 20 and 30 degrees is more suitable. In winter, because its cold resistance is not very good, it is best to keep it indoors. It is better to keep the temperature around ten degrees throughout the winter.

2. Light: Since it is a tropical plant, it has relatively high requirements for light. During its growth period, it needs to be placed in a sunny place. However, too much light can also damage it, so it is best to avoid strong sunlight.

3. Watering: The plant is not drought-tolerant, so it needs sufficient water during its growth stage. In winter, if the temperature drops below thirteen degrees, it will hibernate and water needs to be controlled.

4. Fertilization: It requires fertilizers from May to October. However, don't do it too often. Generally speaking, once every half a month is enough.

2. Breeding techniques

1. Reproduction: Mainly by sowing. A well-prepared substrate can be mainly made of leaf mold, plus sand and other materials. Before sowing, the seeds need to be soaked in warm water to increase the germination rate. After sowing, the temperature is controlled at 22 to 25 degrees. It will take about thirty to forty days for the seeds to germinate.

2. Repotting: Miniature coconut palms are usually placed at home as potted plants, so they have relatively high requirements for soil. It is best to replace it once a year. If the soil quality is good, it can be done once every two years.

3. Problem diagnosis and treatment

1. Disease: "Yellow leaf disease" may occur, which may be caused by too strong light or too much watering. Prevention and treatment should be carried out after the cause of the disease is determined. There may also be "black spot disease", which also harms the leaves. When the disease occurs, the tips of the leaves will dry up. Use chlorothalonil for treatment and apply appropriate amounts of phosphorus and potassium fertilizers.

2. Pests: mainly scale insects. You can use either trichlorfon or omethoate.

IV. Other issues

1. Toxicity: It is non-toxic and does not emit toxic substances. Moreover, it has a purifying effect.

2. Can it be kept at home: It can be kept at home. The miniature coconut palm is not too big and is suitable for indoor placement. It is also ornamental and can purify the air.
