Cultivation methods of water lilies and the influence of the environment

Pond Planting

For pond-planted water lilies, the pond should be emptied first, and then base fertilizer should be applied, new pond mud should be placed, and then water should be filled several times. As the water lily grows gradually, change or add water. The water depth should be kept at 70-80cm. In winter, more water should be added, and the height can be above 110cm, so that the rhizome of the entire water lily can absorb enough water and survive the winter safely.

Potted plants

Potted plants are a little more complicated and can be grown according to the following methods.

flowerpot

Prepare flower pots and fill them with culture soil, which should be fertile and loose.

plant

First, loosen the soil in the pot, then put the flowers in, cover them, and press them gently.

Watering

Watering is a very important step. The first time you water, you should water enough to water the entire flower and leaves thoroughly. Then water in an appropriate amount every day to keep the soil moist, but not too much. The first watering is related to the survival of the flowers and is commonly known as rooting water in the breeding industry.

manage

Potted water lilies prefer shade. Generally, in the first week, spray water on the leaves appropriately, keep the soil loose, and ensure adequate ventilation. Then keep watering regularly every day, apply appropriate amounts of fertilizer every month, and pay attention to spraying pesticides to prevent diseases and pests.

Environmental influences

1. Water lilies are temperate and tropical plants that require sufficient light, good ventilation, and warm and calm water. They especially require clean water, otherwise the leaves will rot. The appropriate water depth is 30cm-60cm. It requires loam rich in humus and strong soil fertility resistance. The underground stems need to overwinter in non-frozen soil.

2. Water lilies prefer places with high temperature and strong light, and the suitable water temperature for growth is 18-20℃. In winter, cover it or add water to protect it from the cold. The temperature should not be lower than 4℃. It needs good ventilation and full sun exposure when conditions permit during the growing period. It needs to receive at least 6 hours of direct sunlight every day. When the environment is shaded, the growth is slower and dull buds are likely to appear.
