How to prune the roots of succulent plants

1. Light pruning: For some plants with weaker root systems and better growth conditions, large-scale root pruning is generally not required. You only need to trim away the rotten and dry roots. From the outside, it looks like it's growing well, has a solid foundation, and its roots are clean and full. It's just that its condition is a little poor, so it only needs slight pruning. Don't prune too much, as that would be detrimental to its recovery.

2. Moderate pruning: If the plant's growth is not good, the root development is weak, or there are diseases and pests, moderate pruning is required. You can trim off part of the main root and all the surrounding fibrous roots, which can induce the plant to grow roots.

3. Heavy pruning: If the growth condition of the plant becomes very bad and you want it to grow rapidly, you can do heavy pruning. You can cut off most of the main roots and all the fibrous roots, cutting off half or even more, which can promote its rapid growth, but it is easy to cause the opposite effect.

2. Precautions

Pruning cannot be done during the growing season. Summer types can be done in spring, and winter types can be done in autumn.
