How to grow beautiful lotus in winter

How to grow beautiful lotus in winter

1. The winter characteristics of this plant

First of all, it likes a warm environment and is not very cold-resistant. In winter, the range of five to seven degrees is the limit of what it can tolerate. It cannot be any lower, otherwise it will be frostbitten, and in severe cases even frozen to death. In addition, it has almost no demand for water in winter. On the one hand, it is because it is relatively drought-resistant and afraid of waterlogging, so it should not be watered too much on a normal basis; on the other hand, when the temperature is low, its growth is basically stagnant, so the water requirement is reduced. Then there is light, which is needed more in winter, otherwise the plant may appear loose in shape and have sparse leaves.

2. Specific practices

(1) In late autumn and early winter, the temperature begins to drop slowly, so at this time we have to prepare to move the plants indoors for maintenance. Keeping the temperature above ten degrees Celsius and no lower than five degrees Celsius can ensure you spend the winter safely.

(2) Watering: Try not to water in winter. If you observe that the soil in the pot is very dry and the leaves become dry, you can water it slightly. However, be careful not to water too much, otherwise it may rot.

(3) Light: It is very necessary to let the plant see more sunlight in winter. This can not only help it to survive the winter safely, but also accumulate more nutrients, making full preparations for growth and flowering in the next year.

(4) Fertilizer: Like water, since growth is very slow at this stage, it is basically not needed.
