The growth of Clivia leaves is basically regular, and usually 1-3 pairs of leaves grow in a year. After about a year of growth, the plant will have 4-5 leaves; after two years of growth, it will have about 10 or 11 leaves, and some will have more; after three years of growth, it will have 16 or 17 leaves. If it is properly maintained, it will grow more.

As the plant continues to grow, the old leaves that are about 3 years old are likely to be metabolized. Generally speaking, the number of leaves is around 22-24.
