Planting method and reproduction of Dendrobium

Planting method and reproduction of Dendrobium

1. Planting method

1. Prepare the soil: Dendrobium has high requirements for the soil, so when planting, you need to prepare suitable soil. It must be loose, breathable, well-drained and rich in humus. Only in such a soil environment can it grow more vigorously. You can mix peanut shells, sawdust, moss, sphagnum moss, etc., or you can buy a special substrate for Dendrobium.

2. Processing of plants: Whether you purchase Dendrobium seedlings or dig them yourself, you must first carefully process them before planting. Cut off the dry and yellow parts on them. If there are rotten roots or dead roots, they must also be processed. This way, they can better absorb fertilizer and water in the later stage and resume growth as soon as possible.

3. Planting in the soil: After the substrate is prepared and the plants are processed, they can be planted in the soil. First put some substrate in the flowerpot, then put the plant in, and slowly fill the soil and compact it. After planting, you need to water it thoroughly in time to allow the roots and substrate to combine closely, so that it can resume normal growth as soon as possible. Note that it should be placed in a warm, well-ventilated and cool environment in the later stage.

2. Breeding Methods

1. Cutting propagation: Choose May to June for cuttings. Cuttings are taken from three-year-old healthy plants, with full stems and 4 to 5 nodes in each section. Pure river sand can be used as the substrate. Directly insert the processed stems into the river sand, and transplant them after the buds on the stems grow out.

2. Propagation by division: Division should also be carried out in spring. Choose healthy and strong Dendrobium, cut the two-year-old stems, remove the old roots, and then plant them separately directly. They can be planted close to stones or trees.
