In recent years, zucchini has become a popular vegetable for its rich nutritional value and fresh taste. More and more people are growing zucchini in rural areas. The following are the planting methods and management techniques of zucchini. 1. Planting time Choose spring or autumn to avoid the hot season. The recommended time for sowing in spring is early May, and in autumn it is late September. 2. Planting Soak the seeds in warm water for six hours and place them at 25°C to promote germination. Prepare loose and fertile seedbed soil and add appropriate amount of wood ash. Cover with fine soil after sowing and keep the soil moist. 3. Planting When the seedlings are 3 cm tall, transplant them and apply sufficient base fertilizer, 2,000 kg of organic fertilizer and 7 kg of potassium fertilizer per mu. Water thoroughly after planting to help the seedlings adapt to the new environment. 4. Field management Dig furrows and level the ridges, with the ridges 100 cm wide, 20 cm high, and the furrows 25-30 cm wide. Before covering the soil with film, level the bed surface, spray herbicides , tighten the film and compact it. 5. Temperature control The greenhouse temperature is 25-28°C during the day and 18-20°C at night. Ventilate when it exceeds 30°C. The greenhouse temperature during the seedling growth period is 20-25°C, and 12-15°C at night, which is conducive to the differentiation of female flowers. 6. Fertilizer and water management Apply sufficient organic fertilizer as base fertilizer, and apply 1,000 kg of decomposed organic fertilizer per acre to provide zucchini with rich organic matter and trace elements. Apply fertilizer reasonably, avoid excessive application of nitrogen fertilizer, and maintain nutritional balance. After planting, water thoroughly to promote seedling growth. Control the growth of the plants by squatting them and promote the development of the root system until the root melon is established. If drought occurs during the seedling period, water the plants in time to maintain growth. After the fruits are formed, implement normal water and fertilizer management and water once every 5-7 days. Topdressing should be carried out after every other watering. Under drip irrigation conditions, 3-5 kg of urea, 2-3 kg of diammonium phosphate, and 5-8 kg of potassium sulfate should be applied per mu. Under furrow irrigation conditions, the amount of fertilizer needs to be increased appropriately. In modern cultivation, the application of potassium fertilizer is crucial to improving the yield and quality of zucchini, avoiding the past practice of applying nitrogen fertilizer alone. After the fruits are formed, regularly spray foliar fertilizers , such as potassium dihydrogen phosphate or other trace element fertilizers, to promote healthy growth of the plants and fruit formation. 7. Harvest Harvest after they reach the market specifications. Keep more large melons from those that are growing well, keep fewer melons from those that are growing weakly, and harvest them early. When picking, avoid damaging the main vine and keep the stalk. The above are the planting steps and management techniques for zucchini. Following these steps can effectively improve the yield and quality of zucchini and achieve efficient cultivation.
