The difference between maple and locust trees

1. Tree shape difference

Maple poplar is a tall tree that can reach a height of 30m and a trunk diameter of 1m. Its branchlets are gray or brown with gray-yellow lenticels.

Sophora japonica is a tree that is about 25m tall. Its new branches are green and not covered with fuzz.

2. Leaf Difference

The leaves of maple poplar are 8-16 cm long and have 10-16 oblong leaflets. The leaflets are approximately 8-12 cm long and 2-3 cm wide. The petiole is 2-5 cm long and covered with a layer of short hairs.

The leaves of the Sophora japonica tree have only 4-7 pairs of leaflets, which are ovate-lanceolate. It is about 2.5-6cm long and 1.5-3cm wide, which is smaller than the former leaflet.
