Petunia

When it comes to flowers that dominate balconies and windowsills, how can we not mention petunias? Their bright colors are perfect for the hot summer.

1. Soil

Choose a more breathable soil, such as sandy soil, coconut coir soil, or add some gravel and pearl stone to the garden soil.

2. Light and Water

If you want your petunia to bloom wildly, you need to expose it to more sunlight, water it every day, and be careful not to accumulate water in the pot, otherwise there is a risk of root rot.

3. Topping

Petunias should be topped at least twice. The first time: when the seedlings are 12 cm in size, pinch the tops to induce multiple heads. The second time: after the first flowering, pinch off the long branches to ensure the overall uniformity.

4. Fertilization

Petunia blooms a lot, so you can add some nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizers before and after the flowering period. Bean cake, chicken manure, and homemade fertilizers are all fine. Pay attention to applying thin fertilizers frequently.

Verbena

The flowering period of Verbena is from May to November, which is a very long time, so it’s not too late to plant it now!

1. Soil

It is best to use nutrient-rich leaf mold mixed with garden soil and gravel to plant, and put some tiles or gauze at the bottom of the pot to prevent water accumulation.

2. Light and Water

Verbena loves light and is not afraid of hot weather. It needs to be watered every day, but it gets thirsty easily.

3. Fertilization

The roots of Verbena are relatively short and sensitive to fertilizer. It is best to add fertilizer before and after the flowering period. Use flower fertilizer, slow-release fertilizer, and homemade bean cake fertilizer.

Danish bellflower

Once the Danish bluebells bloom, you can't even see their leaves. They bloom from April to June, and in northern areas they can bloom until July. They are now very popular.

1. Soil

It only needs a little coconut coir soil to grow it, and it’s incredible how much it can bloom in such a small pot!

2. Light and Water

It likes light and can tolerate partial shade. It needs shade when the temperature is particularly high in summer. It is usually watered once every 1-2 days. Watering should be controlled after the flowering period.

3. Note

Danish bluebells do not require special fertilization or topping. The only thing to pay attention to is wintering. Keep warm in winter.

Artemisia

Eyebrow daisy can bloom in all seasons. No matter how hot the summer is, as long as it is well watered, it will be full of energy, with many colors of flowers, and will bloom endlessly!

1. Soil

Asteraceae has no requirements for soil. We can plant it in ordinary garden soil. If conditions permit, flower lovers can mix some leaf mold and sandy soil.

2. Light and Water

Millet chrysanthemum likes light, so it does not need shade when placed on balconies or windowsills in summer, but it is necessary to ensure watering. It can be watered once every 1-2 days, and once every 3-5 days in spring, autumn and winter.

3. Topping

Each time the flowers bloom, they should be topped, aiming for a short, fat, round shape, and refusing to grow wildly.

4. Fertilization

When planting, just mix a little organic fertilizer in the potting soil. One-year-old millet chrysanthemum can be supplemented with phosphorus fertilizer and urea fertilizer.

sorrel

Don’t underestimate Oxalis, it has made a comeback and become the most popular flower in spring and summer!

1. Soil

Ordinary garden soil will do. You can also use sandy soil or peat soil. Oxalis tolerates poor soil conditions, so it doesn't matter whether you add fertilizer to the soil.

2. Light and Water

Oxalis loves light, so it doesn't matter how much sun it gets. You can water it every day. If you forget, it's okay. It's also drought-tolerant. So considerate!

3. Topping

If your Oxalis is uneven and grows too messy, you can cut the long branches short, commonly known as "shaving"

4. Dormant period

Generally, it goes dormant in mid-to-late July. During the dormant period, watering should be gradually stopped until September when watering starts again. Then the little guy wakes up and starts to bloom for the second time.

Baby's breath

The flower language of baby's breath is pure, romantic, and persistent love. I believe that many flower lovers have feelings for it~

1. Soil

Ordinary flower soil mixed with gravel to keep it loose and breathable

2. Light and Water

Gypsophila loves light, the more it is exposed to the sun, the more flowers it blooms. Water it when the soil is dry, and never allow water to accumulate.

3. Topping

Gypsophila paniculata is also prone to growing too tall. If you find any messy long branches, you can just pinch them off.

Million Bells

Million Bells is a good bloomer. It has been introduced many times. It is easy to grow and can bloom out of the pot. Do you have one at home?

1. Choose a pot

Generally, you only need to plant 3-5 small bells in a 20 cm diameter flower pot. A few of them can burst into a ball. Don't plant too many.

2. Soil

The little bell is not picky about soil, but in order to prevent compaction, it is best to use fluffy, breathable coconut bran soil, sandy soil mixed with ordinary garden soil

3. Light and Water

Xiaoling likes light and tolerates partial shade. It can also be grown on the north balcony with scattered light. Water it every day during the flowering period. Water it when the soil is dry at other times. Don't water it too often.

4. Topping

If you see that the branches of the small bell plant are growing in disorder, you can prune them to concentrate the nutrients for the plant to grow well in the pot. The pruned branches can be used for cuttings again.

Six times profit

The natural flowering period of Liubeili is from July to September, so it is just right to plant it now~

1. Soil

General garden soil, nutrient soil, coconut bran soil can be used, add some perlite to improve air permeability

2. Light and Water

Six times more light, the more you expose it to the sun, the more flowers it will bloom. You can water it every day during the flowering period, and control the water appropriately at other times. It is still quite drought-resistant

3. Topping

The six-fold profit may be a bit messy in the later stage of flowering. You can pinch the branches and top them to ensure that the next time it blooms, it will be round again!
