How to plant aloe vera

Selection of potting soil and seedlings for aloe vera

When growing aloe vera, it is very important to choose the right potting soil.

First of all, growing aloe vera at home requires a flower pot, and it is best to use a clay pot with good air permeability. Porcelain pots and plastic pots are not suitable and can easily cause the roots of aloe vera to rot. If you use a new flowerpot, you need to soak it with water before putting it in the pot. If you want to use old flower pots, you need to clean them first, remove all residues and then dry them in the sun before using them. The soil selection also requires careful consideration. When planted in potted plants, their growth will be restricted by the pots, so it is necessary to choose suitable soil to ensure good root growth.

Secondly, suitable seedlings are also key. When choosing aloe vera, it is best to choose healthy aloe vera seedlings with short and thick leaves, dark green in color and with self-rooting.

How to plant aloe vera in a pot

Planting the aloe vera seedlings in a new pot is called potting. Potting is usually done in spring and summer. The indoor temperature should be between 15℃ and 18℃, at which time the aloe vera will take root faster. Aloe vera is not suitable for potting in winter because the temperature is low and the plant can easily rot.

When potting, place a piece of broken tile at the bottom of the pot to improve drainage. Place the aloe plant in the center of the pot, let the roots spread out, then cover it with soil and compact it. When filling the soil, make sure it is 2-3 cm away from the edge of the pot. After potting, water thoroughly.

After potting, the aloe vera should not be exposed to direct sunlight. It can be placed in a semi-shaded place for maintenance. After the seedlings have recovered, they can be exposed to more sunlight. At this time, be careful not to water too much, and it is best not to apply fertilizer. You can spray more water after the roots have taken shape.
