Cyclamen cultivation methods and precautions

Cyclamen cultivation methods and precautions

1. Soil

The first requirement is that it is nutritious, loose and breathable. In addition, according to the characteristics of the plant, the pH value needs to be between six and seven, which is a neutral soil.

2. Lighting

The plant prefers light and should be placed in a sunny place for maintenance. Especially when the temperature is as low as 28 degrees, light becomes more important. However, the stronger the light, the better. The plants are afraid of direct sunlight, so appropriate shading is required when encountering it.

3. Watering

The plant likes moisture, but is also afraid of waterlogging. Too much water will cause its roots to rot, and in severe cases it will die. Therefore, just keep the soil moist, but don't let water accumulate.

4. Temperature

The most suitable temperature is between ten and twenty degrees, which is most conducive to plant growth. Below five degrees, the growth rate slows down; above thirty degrees, the plant will enter dormancy; if above thirty-five degrees, it will easily rot. Therefore, it is best not to exceed 30 degrees in summer and not to fall below zero in winter.

5. Fertilization

In the spring and autumn of the growing season, apply potassium dihydrogen phosphate at a concentration of 0.2% once. Be careful not to apply too much nitrogen fertilizer during the flowering period, otherwise the branches and leaves will grow too fast and the flowers will have a short life.

6. Ventilation

Dirty air or too much smoke in the air will cause the petals to wither quickly, so it needs to be ventilated regularly, but don't place it in a drafty area.
