How to grow Lithops

How to grow Lithops

1. Breeding environment:

1. Soil: Lithops prefers loose sandy loam with good air permeability. It is best to choose neutral soil.

2. Watering: It does not need too much water. Do not water it too much, otherwise moss will grow and delay its normal growth.

3. Temperature: The most suitable temperature is 15-25℃. The winter temperature should be around 10℃. The lowest temperature should not be lower than 5℃, otherwise it will be frozen and may die.

4. Light: In spring and autumn, direct sunlight can be allowed. In summer, when the temperature is too high, shade measures must be taken. In winter, it is best to place it in a bright place.

2. Reproduction method:

1. Seed propagation: Use the method of indoor pot sowing, generally in April and May, the temperature is about 15-25℃. Do not water directly after sowing, and do not cover with soil, otherwise it will affect germination.

2. Cutting propagation: prepare a suitable substrate, cut off the stems or leaves, dry them, and insert them into the substrate, then spray them lightly with water. Roots will soon grow. Generally, it is best not to carry out cutting propagation when the temperature is relatively high.

3. Common pests and diseases:

The most common ones are leaf rot and leaf spot. When these damages occur, you can spray with pesticides. The insect pests are usually root-knot nematodes. You can change the soil to reduce their damage. The next most common are ants. You can use pots to isolate the plants from water so that the ants cannot climb onto the spherical leaves.
