Cactus cultivation methods and precautions

Cactus cultivation methods and precautions

1. Soil

To grow cacti, you need soil with good drainage and air permeability. Be careful not to choose soil that is too fertile, otherwise it will easily cause root rot.

2. Lighting

Cactus is native to tropical regions and is a plant that loves light very much. If it lacks light for a long time, it will become very weak. Generally, you can keep it in a sunny place all year round, and there is no need to shade it even in summer.

3. Watering

Cactus is very drought-resistant and does not need to be watered very frequently, but it cannot be without watering, otherwise it will wrinkle and may age prematurely. Generally, you can water more in summer, but you need to strictly control water in winter.

4. Temperature

The optimum growth temperature for cactus is 20-30℃, and it cannot be lower than 5℃ in winter. In addition, in winter, you must be careful not to let the temperature difference between day and night be too large, otherwise it is likely to cause frost damage.

5. Notes

1. Change the pot in time. Generally speaking, adult cacti do not need to be repotted every year, and it is sufficient to repot them every 2-3 years. However, young cacti need to be repotted every year.

2. Pay attention to water quality. Cactus is not tolerant to salt and alkali, so it is best to use well water or rainwater for watering. Do not use water with too high salt content, otherwise it will affect its normal growth.
