How to propagate crabapple by cuttings

How to propagate crabapple by cuttings

1. Cutting time

It is best to do cuttings of crabapple in spring or autumn. It is best not to do it in summer, as doing so when the plant is dormant will affect its survival. Home potted plant cuttings can be carried out in April and May every year, and the best temperature is around 20℃.

2. Cutting method

1. Select branches: When cutting, use strong branches with a length of 5-6cm, and the selected branches should have at least 2 buds. Cut the stem 1cm below the node, cut off the flower buds and cut the lower end into a horseshoe shape, which can increase the basic area with the substrate.

2. Prepare the substrate: Before cutting, you must prepare a suitable substrate. It is best to use river sand. Be sure to clean it and put it in the pot after it dries.

3. Carry out cuttings: Cut the treated branches into the substrate and place them in a cool environment.
