How to grow Spiraea hemp in the garden

1. Choose the right soil

Spiraea hemp prefers fertile soil, so when planting it, you should choose soil that is loose and has good water permeability. This will allow its roots to get better protection and meet its nutritional needs. In addition, you should also look for soil that is particularly sticky, and then add some fine sand or small stones to make the soil better. Never choose soil that is extremely sticky and has moist lumps of soil inside. This is very bad for the roots and they will not be able to survive easily. Sandy loam soil is best.

2. Suitable light and temperature

Spiraea hemp has high requirements for sunlight. It is necessary to ensure sufficient sunlight and good ventilation. It generally grows and develops best at a temperature of around 25°. Although it can spend the winter exposed on the ground, if the temperature is below minus 25°, frost damage will occur, and may even lead to death, so the temperature must be controlled to meet its temperature needs.

3. Proper watering and fertilization

Before planting, make sure there is sufficient basal fertilizer and sufficient water. Generally, it is best to use well-rotted manure. When it is about to bloom, you should apply phosphorus fertilizer and potassium fertilizer 2 to 3 times. When autumn is about to pass, you should apply winter fertilizer. Rotten and hot manure is best. In winter, stop fertilizing and reduce the amount of watering.

4. Perform proper shaping and pruning

When it grows to a certain size, the Spiraea needs to be pruned. The best season is spring. In early spring, its dead branches should be cut off before it sprouts. Some too dense branches, sick and weak branches, and aging branches should also be cut off to keep it beautiful. In this way, it can bloom and grow vigorously, bringing beauty to the entire courtyard.
