Cultivation methods and precautions of couple crabapple

How to cultivate couple crabapple

temperature

The suitable temperature for the growth of the couple crabapple is approximately between 16℃-25℃. It should not be lower than 10℃ in winter and not higher than 28℃ in summer. It also prefers an environment with a large temperature difference between day and night.

illumination

Provide sufficient light, but use a shade net in summer to avoid long-term exposure to the sun, and ensure good ventilation, otherwise it will easily cause poor plant growth.

Moisture

It is advisable to keep the soil in the pot moist. In dry weather, you need to spray water on the leaves in time to increase the air humidity and promote the healthy growth of the plant. The air humidity during the growing period should be controlled at around 60%-80%. At the same time, drain water in time and avoid waterlogging and rain, otherwise it will easily cause root rot. In winter, it is better to keep the soil in the pot slightly dry, and you can spray clean water on the leaves once a week.

fertilizer

During the growth period, dilute cake fertilizer water can be applied once every 10 days, and some phosphorus fertilizer can be applied during the bud formation period. When applying fertilizer, be careful to avoid splashing the fertilizer onto the leaves; no fertilizer is needed during the flowering period and in winter and summer.

soil

It is suitable to choose fertile, loose, well-drained sandy loam.

Precautions for the cultivation of couple crabapples

Reasonable pruning

Repotting, changing soil and pruning are carried out every spring, and weak branches, overlapping branches, and residual roots are cut off. Plants that have grown too tall and have been flowering for 2-3 years need to be pruned back to only retain about 6-10 cm of the stem to encourage new branches to sprout.
