Lotus planting and precautions

Lotus planting and precautions

When to plant lotus

If you want to use lotus seeds to sow lotus, the main factor to consider is temperature. The suitable temperature for lotus sowing is between 17℃ and 24℃, but the specific sowing time actually varies according to changes in region and climate. Basically, the best time to get wet in the Yangtze River area is between mid-to-late April and May, and it will be a little later in the northern region.

Lotus sowing precautions

If you want to sow lotus seeds, you must first break them open because the lotus seeds are too hard. So after breaking them to expose the seed coat, you need to soak them for a few days and wait until the leaves grow before you can sow them.

When sowing lotus, you should pay attention to the fact that its sowing temperature requirement is relatively high. It usually starts to germinate at 8-10℃ and starts to grow at 14℃. Therefore, when sowing, the temperature should be above 15℃.

Please note that summer is the time when lotus grows most vigorously, so the demand for water is very high at this time. At this time, there should be no lack of water in the flowerpot, and the water level should not submerge the leaves. In addition, the lotus has a relatively high demand for fertilizer in summer, so it is necessary to replenish fertilizer in time to avoid poor growth.
