A large collection of soil for cuttings

River sand

It is best to choose coarse stones without organic matter instead of river sand. The advantages of such a substrate are good air permeability, easy absorption of heat, rapid temperature rise, and conducive to plant rooting; the disadvantage is poor water retention, and water must be replenished in time.

River sand can be used for cuttings of succulent plants such as cacti and epiphyllums, and can also be used for Welwitschia and Gloxinia. The effect is better when river sand is mixed with peat.

Vermiculite and Perlite

Vermiculite and perlite are suitable for cuttings of various flower seedlings and are ideal cutting media.

Peat soil

Peat soil has a high humus content and strong water retention capacity. When mixed with river sand, it is suitable for planting most flowers by cuttings.

Leaf mold

Leaf mold is light and loose, with good air permeability and drainage. It is usually mixed with other soils to improve the soil and promote plant growth.

Wood Soil

Wood soil is made by mixing dead branches and wood chips with soil after decay, and it contains more nutrients.

Landslide

Mountain mud is formed by the accumulation and decay of fallen leaves and dead branches in mountain forests. It is breathable and water-permeable, and has good fertilizer and water retention properties.

Rockwool

Rock wool is not easy to deform during the cultivation process and has a relatively high water holding capacity and low water tension.

Blue Stone

As one of the moisturizing media, orchid stone is not directly used as a cutting medium.

Sphagnum moss

Sphagnum moss can be used in cutting propagation to prevent the scion from drying out.
