Durian season, when is it ripe?

Durian season, when is it ripe?

1. Introduction

Durian is a giant tropical evergreen tree of the Malvaceae family. It is a pure tropical crop, suitable for growing in areas with an average daily temperature above 22°C, and can only grow and bear fruit in a climate with high temperatures all year round. The fruit is relatively large, weighing about 4-5kg per piece. The peel is firm and has sharp thorns. The flesh is composed of a fleshy bag called aril, and the flesh is light yellow in color. It is one of the famous tropical fruits, known as the "king of fruits", native to Malaysia, and is the most popular fruit in Thailand.

2. Season

The durian season is generally in summer, which is the golden period for eating durian. Because of the sunlight, the quality of durian ripened in summer is better than that in other seasons. Durian begins to mature in June, and then waits until July to August to accumulate nutrients. September is the month when durian is put on the market in large quantities, and this is also the time when durian has the best quality. Durian has the effects of strengthening the body, promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis, promoting digestion and enhancing immunity.

3. When is it mature?

The fruit ripening period of durian is from June to December. Durian generally blooms twice a year and has two maturity periods, the first from June to August, and the second from November to February of the following year. However, with the continuous improvement of planting and storage techniques, durian can be eaten all year round. However, it is best to eat durian during its natural ripening period, as the taste will be better.
