Doubanlan maintenance methods and management

Doubanlan maintenance methods and management

Preliminary preparations for the cultivation of doubanlan

Soil selection for doubanlan

The bean orchid has high requirements for soil selection, and semi-soft planting material is preferred. For weak seedlings: the root system is still unstable, so the purpose is to nourish the roots. It is best to choose planting materials with less fertility. For example, you can mix granular red soil, prickly millet leaves, burnt soil and rotten pine needles in a ratio of 3:4:1:2.

For strong seedlings: the most important thing is growth and flowering, so the proportion of prickly ash leaves can be appropriately increased to improve soil fertility. Granular red soil, prickly ash leaves, burnt soil and rotten pine needles are mixed in a ratio of 2:61:1.

Selection of flowerpots for doubanlan

It is best to choose a plastic basin with good air permeability, but a ceramic basin is also acceptable.

Trimming of the doubanlan plant

Select a vigorous and strong bean orchid, rinse the orchid roots with clean water, then use sterilized scissors to cut off the dry, rotten roots and black roots, then soak the orchid plants in diluted potassium permanganate for half an hour, then take them out and place them in a cool place to air dry.

Daily maintenance of Doubanlan cultivation

Water supply of Doubanlan

The water tolerance of the bean orchid is average, so during the maintenance process, it should not be watered too much and water should not accumulate. When the soil surface is dry, just water a small amount of water to moisten the surface of the pot. In summer, the pots should be moistened every other day, and watered thoroughly twice a month. In autumn, the pots should be moistened twice a week, and watered thoroughly once a month. In winter, control the amount of water and moisten the pot once a week.

Light management of doubanlan

The growth of bean orchid requires a long light cycle. It needs appropriate shade in summer and autumn, but no shading in winter and spring. Insufficient light may make it difficult for the bean orchid to bloom, so you should take the bean orchid out to expose it to the sun more often.

Temperature and humidity control of Doubanlan

The bean orchid likes warm winters and cool summers. The optimal growth temperature is 15-28℃. There is no need to pay too much attention to the temperature in spring and autumn. The growth is slow when the temperature exceeds 35℃ in summer. It can be cooled by shading and spraying. In winter, the temperature is below 10℃ and it needs to be moved indoors to prevent frostbite. The suitable air humidity is 70-80%, and the suitable humidity in winter is 50-60%.

Fertilization measures for doubanlan

The cultivation medium of bean orchid is rich in nutrients, so there is no need to apply chemical fertilizers during the cultivation process. Mixing an appropriate amount of cake fertilizer or sheep manure during the annual repotting or soil change can provide sufficient nutrition for the bean orchid. Generally, no fertilizer is applied in the middle.

Ventilation management of doubanlan

In a well-ventilated environment, the bean orchid promotes its respiration, accelerates its metabolism and promotes its growth. If the ventilation conditions are poor, it is easy to cause bacteria and mold to multiply, bringing rot and mildew, which is not conducive to the growth of orchids. The choice of a ventilated place must fully consider the wind force to avoid strong winds or cold winds that may damage the leaves.
