Water and fertilizer management tips for mirror grass

How to water mirror grass

Mirror grass likes water but is afraid of waterlogging. You can keep the soil in the pot moist. It will wilt and droop easily due to drought. In severe cases, the leaves will become wrinkled, turn yellow, or die.

When the temperature is below 12℃ in winter, control the number of waterings, otherwise the plants will easily rot and will not survive the winter. Always keep the soil in the pot moist, but avoid water accumulation to prevent leaf discoloration, wilting, and even stem rot. Water when the soil is dry and water when it is wet. To maintain air humidity, spray the leaves frequently.

The pot should be kept moist during the entire growing period. It can be relatively drier in winter, but it must not be dry, otherwise the leaves will easily wither and turn black. In the dry season, spray water frequently on the leaves and around them to create a humid microenvironment.

How to fertilize mirror grass

The stems and leaves of mirror grass are fleshy and cannot tolerate concentrated or large amounts of fertilizer. It should be watered in small amounts and multiple times, and it is best to use dilute fertilizer water.

Fertilization should be stopped when the temperature is above 28℃ or below 12℃.

Apply thin liquid fertilizer once every half month during the growing season.

The entire spring and summer is the period of vigorous growth for mirror grass. It is necessary to strengthen fertilizer and water management, and frequently use 0.1%-0.5% potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution for watering or foliar spraying.

Apply a small amount of nitrogen fertilizer from time to time during the spring, and try to apply less or no nitrogen fertilizer in the summer. Apply thin liquid fertilizer once every half month during the growing season. However, it should be noted that too much nitrogen fertilizer will cause the leaves to grow too long and the plant to fall over, while concentrated fertilizer and raw fertilizer will cause root rot or even death of the plant.

The editor calculated that most of the people who failed to grow mirror grass lost the opportunity to continue to grow with it because of improper water and fertilizer management. Growing flowers and plants also requires fate and skills. Fate is determined by heaven, while skills are acquired. If you have innate fate, why don’t you grasp the acquired skills?
