Cultivation methods and precautions of Axillary Lip Orchid

Living habits

Axillary orchid likes heat and prefers to live in a high temperature and high humidity environment. It likes sunny days the most. In the spring, autumn and winter when the sun is mild, it can even receive a whole day of sunlight. However, in summer, it needs to avoid the scorching light at noon, or only receive half a day of light. You can also use a shade net to block part of the sunlight.

Watering method

When cultivating, you can use sphagnum moss to maintain water content, and water it when the sphagnum moss is half dry. If you see wrinkles on the pseudobulbs of the axillary lip orchid, it means that it is lacking water, and watering it at this time can restore it to its original state.

Every spring and summer, new buds will sprout from the bottom of the pseudobulb of the axillary orchid and grow very quickly. It is recommended to replace it with a larger pot at this time, which will not only retain moisture but also prevent the pot from tipping over due to uneven positioning.

Fertilization method

Axillary-lipped orchid grows very fast, so it needs more fertilizer. Therefore, in addition to the regular application of slow-release fertilizers, it is recommended that quick-acting fertilizers be applied when growth is faster in spring and summer.

Reproduction method

The main method of propagation of Axillary Lip Orchid is division, which is more suitable in spring and summer. You can take 3-5 bulbs as a unit and plant them in pots separately.

The axillary lip orchid does not look outstanding when placed in the home, and many stores will not even stock it, but its fragrance is very attractive, and if you plant a small plant, the room will be filled with floral fragrance.

If you fall in love with this lovely plant, you must seize the time to buy it, otherwise you will not know where to buy it once the flowering period is over.
