Lighting conditions

Narcissus is a neutral flower. In order to grow well, the shade should be greater than 50%. However, Narcissus is not very sensitive to the length of daylight. In spring and autumn, place it in a place with semi-light and good ventilation conditions. In summer, we need to strengthen shading work, avoid direct sunlight, and place potted plants in a ventilated place indoors. In winter, placing it in a well-lit place indoors so that it can receive sufficient sunlight can promote its growth.

Soil and repotting

The soil should be sandy soil rich in humus. Repotting is usually done in early spring, and basal fertilizer is applied at the same time to supplement nutrition.

Water and fertilizer conditions

Water the plants that have just been divided and potted less, and gradually resume normal watering after the leaves sprout. South American daffodils bloom in winter, spring and autumn. Note that after each flowering, it will enter a short-term dormant state, and it should be kept moderately dry at this time. At other times, keep the soil in the pot moist and apply liquid fertilizer about once every 10 days.

Narcissus likes fertilizer and is not picky about fertilizer. In order to develop the root system, liquid fertilizer can be applied once every week during the growing season.

Pest control

Under high temperature and dry conditions, aphids are prone to damage and are also easily infected with viral diseases, so prevention and control should be strengthened in normal times.

How to propagate South American daffodils

The general method of propagation is division of bulbs and sowing. After the South American daffodil plant has grown for 2-3 years, the above-ground part will begin to differentiate flower buds and will be able to bud and bloom. Small bulbs will be found sprouting around the underground bulbs. After waiting for another year, these bulbs that have received sufficient nutrients can become complete young plants.

Bulb division propagation is carried out in spring and can be combined with repotting. The daughter bulbs around the mother bulb can be peeled off and repotted separately.
