How to take care of newly bought ranunculus

How to take care of newly bought ranunculus

1. How to care for newly bought ranunculus

The newly purchased ranunculus needs to adapt to the new environment and will not enter the growth state immediately. At this time, do not water it too much to avoid water accumulation in the potting soil and damage to the plant's root system. You can place it in a warm place with diffuse light to acclimate it. No fertilization is needed until normal growth returns.

2. Specific breeding methods

1. Soil: It is afraid of waterlogging and needs to be provided with a well-drained, loose, fertile, humus-rich and neutral soil. We can prepare its nutrient soil by mixing garden soil, leaf mold and manure in a ratio of 2:1:1.

2. Temperature: It is suitable for growing in a warm environment. When you just buy it, you can keep it in an environment with a temperature of 15℃-20℃ for maintenance. It is not cold-resistant and is very susceptible to frost damage when the temperature is below 0℃, so it cannot be placed in a low temperature environment for a long time. Once frost damage occurs, it will be difficult to recover. In winter, you need to take good warming measures to keep it safe during the winter.

3. Watering: It is drought-resistant but not waterlogged. When you first buy it, you need to water it thoroughly for the first time. After that, you need to strictly control the water. Don't water it too much. Just keep the soil in a dry and moist state. It should be noted that it will enter a dormant period in the summer, so when its leaves are all withered and yellow, it is necessary to cut off water and keep it in a well-ventilated environment.

4. Light: It is not resistant to strong light. When you first buy it, you cannot place it directly in direct sunlight. You need to provide it with a place with sufficient scattered light for maintenance. Under normal circumstances, after entering April, the temperature rises and direct sunlight will accelerate the yellowing of the leaves, causing the plant to enter a dormant state prematurely, so it should be placed in an environment with bright light but away from direct sunlight for maintenance.

5. Fertilization: It likes fertilizer and needs sufficient nutrients during the growing period, but no fertilizer is needed during the potting period. After it returns to its normal growth state, you can apply fertilizer once a week, mainly urea in the early stage and compound fertilizer in the later stage.
