Does growing flowers also require “the right time, the right place, and the right people”?

Lighting issues

When growing flowers, you must "adapt to local conditions" and choose suitable plant varieties based on the lighting conditions at home, such as the direction of the window and whether there are obstructions outside the window.

It is best if the window faces south, as there is plenty of sunlight all day long. Almost all plants are suitable for such an environment, but you just need to remember to place them a little further away from the window. Recommended plantings: cacti, calla lilies, wood sorrel, begonias, or plants that bloom or bear fruit, such as German dwarf lemon trees.
Houses with east- or west-facing windows have average light intake, so you can place plants closer to the windows. Recommended plantings: Pilea, Peperomia, palms, dracaena and ferns.

If the room has poor lighting, it is best to plant some shade-loving plants so that you can place them directly on the windowsill. If possible, move it to a sunny room every week to dry it out. Recommended plantings: Golden Pothos, Philodendron, Glechoma longituba, Dieffenbachia, Spathiphyllum and Money Tree.

Buy

It is best not to buy green plants in hardware stores or supermarkets. Gardening centers and flower shops are good places to buy flowers. Before purchasing, be sure to check carefully to make sure the plant does not have yellow leaves, powdery mildew, leaf spots, or wilting stems, as these symptoms indicate that the plant is already in an unhealthy state.

soil

Soil is the basis for growing flowers well. Most flowers prefer acidic or slightly acidic soil rich in organic matter. The easiest way is to buy ready-made nutrient soil, which solves many problems for novices.

flowerpot

It is best to use a clay pot for planting flowers. Clay pots are breathable and have good water permeability, which is conducive to the growth of flowers and trees. Clay pots can also absorb sunlight. There are countless tiny holes on the clay pots that are invisible to the naked eye, which is conducive to the circulation of water and air, and these are precisely good conditions for the development of flower roots.
Stone basins and porcelain basins, also called glazed basins, are sturdy and durable, beautiful in style, and can maintain relatively stable soil moisture, but have poor air permeability and water permeability. There are also various forms of plastic pots on the market, which are beautifully shaped, light in texture, brightly colored, and suitable for planting ornamental plants. However, this type of pot has poor air permeability and is not easy to dry after watering, so you must be careful when using it.

Watering

Watering is also a science. Regular watering is certainly a good habit, but in fact, watering when the plant needs it most is the best care for it. Before watering, please check the moisture content of the soil. If the plant leaves wilt and the soil becomes hardened, it is definitely due to lack of water. If the soil is very black and feels sticky to the touch, it means that the moisture content of the soil is just right. Be aware that overwatering can kill the plant.

When watering, push aside the leaves first and water the base of the pot until water starts to seep out. Leave it there for half an hour to give the plants enough time to drink up the water, and then pour out the excess water in the tray.

It is generally best to water potted flowers with rainwater. If you use tap water, it is best to store it in a small tank for 2 to 3 days and wait until the chlorine in the water evaporates before using it.

temperature

Plants, like us, are most comfortable in an environment of 30 degrees Celsius, so try to place them away from vents, radiators and external doors, because there will be too much airflow and a large temperature difference between hot and cold.

fertilizer

When you first try gardening, it is best not to use fertilizers, because if you don’t control the amount well, it will be counterproductive. Plants can get the water and minerals they need from the air and other plants around them, and get nourishment and energy through light. Therefore, most plants can grow healthily without adding any fertilizers.

Placement

We can group water-loving ferns, ivy, and tropical plants together and water them collectively every few days using a small spray bottle. In the dry autumn and winter seasons, it is easier to create a humid environment by placing plants in a concentrated area.

Pests and diseases

It rains a lot in spring and summer every year, and flower diseases and insect pests occur frequently, usually from April to June. Pests and diseases should be prevented and controlled in advance, and measures should not be taken until they appear. If you find insects on individual branches or leaves, gently brush them off with a soft brush. Be sure to brush them thoroughly and burn them in a concentrated manner. Do not throw them away randomly to avoid spreading the insects everywhere. In spring and summer, spraying is very important, and sunny and windless weather is most suitable.

I believe that no one wants to lose their beloved green plants due to their own negligence, so you must take good care of them. However, it should be noted that sometimes overly careful care may make it difficult for the plants to survive. This degree needs to be determined by everyone!
