How to grow Begonia sempervivum

temperature

Begonia is not cold-resistant, so the potted plants should be moved indoors for care before the frost falls to prevent frostbite. If the indoor temperature can be maintained above 15℃ at this time, the potted begonia can continue to bloom.

Watering

Begonias need to be watered in the morning and evening in summer, and the best time to water them in winter is around noon, when the light is strongest. Don't water too much, otherwise waterlogging in the soil will cause root rot, yellowing and even withering of leaves.

illumination

Begonia likes light and a warm environment, so it should be placed in a place with sufficient light and ventilation. If there is insufficient light, it will affect its growth and development, and the flower color will be dull and not bright.

Fertilization

During the growing period of Begonia, a thin liquid fertilizer should be applied once every 10 days or so. Fertilization should be mainly phosphorus and potassium fertilizers. Begonia grows slowly during winter and summer, so fertilization should be stopped or as little fertilizer as possible to avoid weakening the heat and cold resistance of the stems and leaves, thereby causing rot.

Pest control

Begonia has a high growth resistance, so it is not susceptible to many diseases and pests. Leaf roller is one of them. When the disease breaks out, it can be caught by artificially attracting lights, or in serious cases, omethoate can be sprayed to dilute it.
