Cultivation Techniques of Potted Cyclamen

Cultivation Techniques of Potted Cyclamen

1. Cyclamen sowing period

The sowing period of cyclamen needs to be determined according to market demand and the characteristics of the variety. If the seeds are sown too early, the high temperature will make it difficult for them to germinate normally. If they are sown too late, the temperature will be too low, causing their development to be slow and they will not bloom on the scheduled day.

2. Seed selection and processing

Cyclamen seeds are amorphous. Good maturity, full grains and reddish-brown color are signs of high-quality seeds, while black or light yellow color indicates over-ripe or poorly mature seeds. Therefore, in large-scale production, in order to obtain seedlings with uniform growth, the seeds should first be graded by size and then sown separately.

3. Planting seeds

The sowing container is a sowing tray, and the sowing soil can be a formula of peat, vermiculite, cow dung and equal proportions. Cover tightly with opaque black plastic film or kraft paper and place in a dark place until it germinates. The temperature during germination should be controlled at 18-22 .

4. Management during the germination period after sowing

20 to 30 days after sowing, the seeds begin to emerge. At this time, the covering black plastic film or kraft paper should be removed, and the seed tray should be placed under strong diffuse light. When the sowing soil is dry, water it from the bottom of the sowing tray. Do not water it from the top with a watering can to avoid causing the seedlings to rot and die. Spray liquid fertilizer every 5-7 days .
