How to grow a cactus to make it grow well How to grow a cactus to make it grow fast

Ornamental plants such as cacti have good adaptability to the environment, strong vitality, and are very easy to grow. Many varieties have been cultivated now. They can all grow very lush and do not need to be pruned like other flowers.

If you want it to bloom, you just need to supplement it with fertilizers with high nutrient content to promote its rapid differentiation of flower buds and the growth of flower buds to bloom, and the flowers that bloom will be exceptionally beautiful.

How to grow cactus better

1. Soil

The soil material for potted cactus should be good for drainage . You can put small stones at the bottom of the pot, about 3 cm thick. Then add the culture soil mixed with leaf mold, garden soil and coarse sand in a ratio of 1:2:1. If conditions permit, you can also add base fertilizer or decomposed organic cake fertilizer to the culture soil .

2. Lighting

During the growing season of cactus, it can be cultivated outdoors, ensuring 4 to 6 hours of light per day . When the light is strong in summer, it needs appropriate shade . Adequate sunlight is conducive to its flowering.

3. Temperature

The cactus is native to the dry grasslands of Argentina and southern Brazil and prefers a warm environment. The most suitable temperature for its growth is 20 to 25 degrees Celsius during the day and 13 to 15 degrees Celsius at night . The minimum temperature cannot be lower than 0 degrees Celsius . It should be placed in a warm place indoors in winter.

4. Moisture

Although cactus is drought-resistant, it likes moist soil and should be kept moist. But it does not mean that you should water it too much. Excessive watering will easily cause water accumulation and root rot. It is also impossible not to water it for a long time, which will make the ball soft. Watering can follow the principle of " water when dry and water thoroughly when watering ".

5. Fertilization

Cactus likes fertilizer and needs to be fertilized 2 to 3 times a month . No fertilizer is needed in the first year of planting and no fertilizer is needed in winter.

Cactus maintenance precautions

1. Pests and diseases

Cacti are prone to scale insects during the growing period. If there are only a few scale insects, you can brush them off with a brush or use tweezers to pick out the insects and kill them. If there are a large number of scale insects, you can bury 15% chlorpyrifos granules in the soil or water the roots with 2000 times diluted 40% oxydemeton-methyl emulsifiable concentrate.

2. Flowerpot selection

When growing cacti in pots, do not choose a pot that is too large. It is best to put the cactus in a pot with some space. Because it is difficult to control the amount of water in a pot that is too large, it is easy to overwater and cause water accumulation and root rot.
