How to take care of the newly bought Bauhinia

1. How to care for the newly bought Bauhinia

When you first buy Bauhinia, you need to choose a suitable soil environment for it, preferably fertile, slightly acidic sandy soil. After that, place it in a warm and humid environment to acclimate. Do not put it directly in the sun for exposure. Just give it appropriate scattered light in the early stage. Do not fertilize and water it in moderation.

2. Specific breeding methods

1. Light: It likes light and is shade-tolerant, but it cannot be placed in the shade for a long time. When you first buy it, in order to better adapt to the new environment, you need to place it in a place with sufficient diffuse light for maintenance. It is afraid of direct sunlight, so it cannot be placed directly in the sun. It needs proper shade in summer, or it can be moved to a cool and ventilated place for maintenance.

2. Temperature: It likes a warm growing environment. The most suitable temperature for its growth is 23℃-34℃. When you just buy it, you can put it in an environment where the temperature is maintained at around 23℃ to acclimate. It is not cold-resistant, so it is best kept indoors in winter. The temperature should be kept at least above 5℃ so that it can safely survive the winter.

3. Watering: It likes a humid environment. When you first buy it, it has not yet returned to its normal growth state and does not need too much water. Just water it about once every 3-5 days to keep the soil slightly moist. Under normal circumstances, spring and autumn are its peak growth seasons, and sufficient water needs to be supplied. In summer and winter, water needs to be controlled appropriately, but it cannot be completely stopped. It is best to water at noon in winter.

4. Fertilization: It does not require much fertilizer. When you first buy it, no fertilizer is needed. It only needs to be fertilized once or twice during the entire growth period, and it is best to choose liquid fertilizer. Before and after flowering, you can apply some phosphorus fertilizer.

3. Repotting

Under normal circumstances, it is best not to change the pot frequently when caring for Bauhinia, as this is not conducive to the normal growth of the plant. Usually you only need to repot once every two to three years, and when you do, the soil also needs to be completely replaced. During this time, if the soil becomes clumpy, you can loosen it.
