How to care for the newly bought Phoenix orchid

How to care for the newly bought Phoenix orchid

1. How to take care of Phoenix orchid after buying it

When you buy the Phoenix orchid, you must first provide it with a suitable potting soil environment, preferably sandy soil with good drainage. Secondly, provide a warm place with soft light for its growth, temporarily reduce the amount of watering, and water it once every 3-5 days on average. Fertilize it after it returns to normal growth.

2. Specific breeding methods

1. Soil: Phoenix orchid has strong adaptability to soil and can grow in poor soil, but it grows better in sandy soil. You can prepare its nutrient soil by mixing leaf mold and coarse sand in a ratio of 4:3. After preparation, add an appropriate amount of base fertilizer, mainly rotted compost or peanut shells, to promote root water penetration.

2. Light: It likes light and needs an adaptation process when it is first bought. It needs to be placed in a place with soft light for maintenance. After it returns to normal growth, you can place it in the sun to receive direct sunlight. In autumn and winter, it can receive sunlight all day long. In summer, the light is relatively strong, so you can shade it at noon.

3. Temperature: It likes a warm environment and is relatively cold-resistant. When you first buy it, you can place it in an environment where the temperature is maintained at around 23°C, which will help it adapt to the new environment better. During the high temperatures in summer, you can provide appropriate shade and watering to cool down.

4. Watering: It likes a humid environment and is relatively drought-resistant. When you first buy it, you don't need to water it too much. It's best to keep the soil in a dry and moist state. Under normal circumstances, you can often spray mist on its leaves in summer to ensure the humidity of the air, which is more conducive to its growth. There is no need to water frequently in winter, an average of once a month is enough to avoid frost damage to the plants.

5. Fertilization: It does not require much fertilizer, so no fertilizer is needed when you first buy it. After returning to normal growth, you can apply some fertilizer in an appropriate amount. Normally, it does not require fertilizer in summer and winter. Apply nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium compound fertilizer twice in spring and autumn respectively. Avoid applying heavy fertilizer.
