Jade Plant is a succulent plant with small and compact leaves. It is a very high-end potted green plant and looks very elegant. I have a Jade Plant in a pot at home. Does the Jade Plant prefer shade or sun? Let’s learn more about it below.

Do jade plants prefer shade or sun?

Jade Plant is a sun-loving plant. During its growth period, it needs to be given sufficient light. If there is insufficient light, the leaves will grow in a light color and the branches will appear thin and slender. By then the whole plant will be very ugly and must be placed in a place with sufficient light, all year round. The more light the plant gets, the thicker the trunk will grow, and the more lush the leaves will be on the entire plant.

How to grow Jade Plant well?

1. Make the soil breathable

Although Jade Plant is not picky about soil, if you want it to grow well and avoid root rot or dryness, you should choose soil with better air permeability. If there is river sand or other particles, add half of the river sand and other particles to the soil to ensure the air permeability and water permeability of the soil. This way there will be no problems with planting.

2. Water appropriately

Jade Plant is a kind of succulent plant . Its water demand is the same as other succulent plants and it is particularly drought-resistant. Watering does not need to be too frequent. If watering is too frequent, water accumulation will easily lead to rot of flower roots, causing the branches to grow too long, which is not conducive to lignification and prevents the plant from becoming an old stump. Water less and the Jade Plant will grow well and have lush branches and leaves.

3. Supplement nutrients

It needs to be fertilized during its peak growth period, such as spring and autumn. Add some organic fertilizer to loosen the soil of the Jade Plant and make the roots grow fat. When fertilizing the Jade Plant, you only need to use fermented organic fertilizer every 20 to 30 days, such as fermented rice water, fermented beer water, fermented soybean water, and fermented sesame cake fertilizer water, which can make the Jade Plant grow fatter and fatter.

4. Proper pruning

Jade plant is very resistant to pruning and grows very fast even if pruned. Even if the pruning is not beautiful, you can start over after it grows new branches. When shaping the Jade Plant, the most worrying thing is not pruning it. As long as you read more tutorials on pruning the Jade Plant and then practice with the Jade Plant, you will not worry about not being able to grow a beautiful bonsai.
