How to cultivate Cypripedium

How to cultivate Cypripedium

1. Soil

For breeding, soil with good air permeability is required, which can be prepared by mixing coarse sand, perlite, humus and peat soil. This kind of soil has sufficient nutrients and good water permeability and air permeability.

2. Watering

During the growth period, the potting soil should always be kept moist. It is best to combine dry and wet watering. Watering should be thorough, not just watering. Otherwise, the roots will not be able to absorb water, which will affect growth. The specific number of times depends on the situation, usually once a day, twice a day in summer.

3. Temperature

It prefers a relatively warm environment to grow, specifically between 15 and 30 degrees. When the temperature exceeds 35 degrees in summer, cooling measures must be taken. In winter, the lowest temperature that can be tolerated is 5 degrees, otherwise it will suffer frost damage.

4. Lighting

It originally grows in deep mountain valleys, so it cannot be exposed to the sun for a long time, let alone strong light. Therefore, it should be placed in a place with short daylight or shaded in time during maintenance.

5. Fertilization

Its roots are fleshy, so when fertilizing, you must apply diluted fertilizer water. Do not put the fertilizer directly on the soil surface, otherwise it will not only not be absorbed, but will damage the root system.
