How to care for the newly bought goldfish spider plant

1. How to raise the newly bought goldfish spider plant

The goldfish spider plant is relatively adaptable to the environment. When you first buy it, you can provide it with a loose, fertile, well-drained and ventilated sandy soil rich in organic matter. Secondly, the environment should be warm and humid, and water it appropriately to keep the soil in a semi-dry and semi-wet state. During the potting period, you can place it in a scattered light or semi-shaded environment for maintenance, and temporarily stop fertilizing.

2. Specific breeding methods

1. Temperature: It likes warm environment, has strong adaptability to the environment and is not cold-resistant. When you first buy it, it is best to keep it in an environment with a temperature of about 20℃. Do not keep it in a low temperature environment for a long time, otherwise it will easily get frostbite. Under normal circumstances, its optimal growth temperature is 15℃-25℃. The room temperature in winter must be kept above 12℃ so that the plant can grow normally. Once the temperature is lower than 5℃, frost damage is likely to occur.

2. Watering: It likes a humid environment, but when it is just bought, it needs proper water control. Watering should be based on the principle of watering when the soil is dry and watering when the soil is wet. It likes a slightly acidic environment, and the pH of the water can be adjusted to about 6. Each time you water it, you must water it thoroughly to keep the soil moist but not waterlogged to prevent the roots from being damaged by waterlogging. In addition, proper watering is needed in spring, summer and autumn, and watering is needed frequently around to maintain humidity. During the hot summer months, it is best to place the flower pot in a shallow tray of water.

3. Light: It likes a shaded environment. When you just buy it, you can put it in a well-ventilated place with soft light for maintenance, but do not expose it to direct sunlight to avoid burning the flowers and leaves. Under normal circumstances, except for sufficient light in winter, it needs more shade in other seasons. If it is placed in the sun for a long time, the plant will shed leaves.

4. Fertilization: Its demand for fertilizer depends on the growth of the plant. When you just buy it, you need to stop fertilizing. Under normal circumstances, 20-30 slow-release organic compound fertilizer granules will be added to 1/3 of the bottom of the pot when the plant is transplanted, and then organic fertilizer will be buried again in conjunction with repotting. Applying a small amount of thin cake fertilizer or phosphorus and potassium fertilizer each season can promote more flowering of the plants. It should be noted that after the plants stop growing in summer and hibernate in winter, fertilization should be stopped to avoid fertilizer damage to the roots.
