When does Magnolia bloom?

When does Magnolia bloom?

1. When will it bloom?

It usually blooms from March to May every year. But if you live in the south where the temperature is higher, the flowers will bloom between December of this year and January of next year. Moreover, the further south you go, the earlier the flowering period will be. So the flowering period depends on the region.

2. How to get more flowers

1. The light should be appropriate

It likes light, so you should let it enjoy as much light as possible, especially during the growth period, and let it have at least 6 hours of light every day. It must not be placed in a shaded place for maintenance, otherwise its leaves will be dull, it will bloom very rarely or even not at all, and the branches that grow will be thin, which is extremely detrimental to its growth. However, if the temperature is high in summer, you can provide appropriate shade to prevent strong sunlight from burning the plant. At the same time, you should continuously sprinkle water on the ground and the leaves of the plant to lower the air temperature.

2. The moisture should be appropriate

It is extremely keen on moisture, but is afraid of stagnant water. Never let the soil in the pot be too moist, otherwise the leaves will turn yellow or even rot and die. But the soil in the pot cannot be too dry, otherwise its leaves will curl. Therefore, when watering, you should water when the soil is dry and wet, and the water temperature and soil temperature should be balanced, and do not water at sudden temperatures. Usually, water in small amounts in spring and autumn, water in the morning and evening in summer, and water once every 10 days in winter. Remember this pattern and you can make it bloom more.

3. Fertilization should be appropriate

Although it likes fertilizer, it is afraid of concentrated fertilizer. Once the concentration is too high, it will burn the roots and produce a counterproductive effect. As long as you remember to apply thin fertilizer frequently, it can have sufficient nutrients and bloom more.

4. Proper leaf picking and pinching

During the period from the Spring Equinox to Qingming Festival every year, it should be taken out of the house. After 2 to 3 days of adapting to the outdoor conditions, the old leaves on the plant can be removed, leaving only a few young leaves. After the flowers bloom, pick the leaves again and pinch the tips appropriately to allow more side branches to sprout and increase the amount of flowering.
