How to Propagate Lucky Bamboo

How to Propagate Lucky Bamboo

1. Seedling transplanting

When raising seedlings, select them directly from the plant. Generally, a section of stem without leaves is selected as the material for cuttings. Its length should be between 5 and 10 cm, and there should preferably be 3 nodes on the stem. Insert this section of stem into semi-mud and sandy soil or sand bed. When inserting, make sure the upper end of the stem is at the top and the lower end is inserted into the soil. The seeds can be treated before planting, for example, by soaking them in a carbendazim solution.

This method usually takes 25 to 30 days for the plant to grow roots in spring and autumn, and then it can be potted after another 35 days.

In addition to stem cuttings, you can also use top branches for cuttings, cut them into 15 to 20 cm cuttings, or the top branches of side buds, and then insert them into coarse sand and provide a suitable environment. In addition, you can also use the water insertion method, put the branches into the water, provide a suitable environment, and then wait for it to take root. You can either place it directly in the water or plant it in a pot.

2. Direct cuttings in the field

The operation of this reproduction is as follows. First, you still need to select branches. You can choose the top ear branch and cut it into 15 to 20 cm in length. Each section contains 4 to 5 internodes. Disinfect it. You can soak it in a solution such as carbendazim, and then insert it directly into the field. Insert about 2 internodes. After that, water it every day to ensure humidity.

If this method is adopted in spring, it is generally carried out after the Great Cold and around the Rain Water, and it takes about 30 to 35 days for the roots to grow. Best planted in late March.
