How to grow jasmine so that it blooms more vigorously?

With the arrival of June and the gradual rise in temperature, jasmine ushers in its peak growing season, as the peak flowering period of jasmine usually lasts from June to September. During this period, the jasmine flowers of many flower lovers are in full bloom, with lush flowers and rich fragrance. However, some flower lovers have found that despite their careful care, their jasmine flowers have yet to bloom. Let’s learn how to grow jasmine so that it blooms more vigorously.

1. Soil selection

Jasmine prefers well-aerated soil. When cultivating indoors, it is recommended not to use ordinary garden soil, but to choose a mixture of half river sand or coal slag and half nutrient soil (such as peat soil or leaf mold) to improve the soil's permeability and water retention, while providing necessary nutrients to promote healthy root growth.

2. Lighting requirements

Jasmine is a light-loving plant. Lack of sufficient sunlight will cause the branches to become soft, the distance between leaves to increase, and even affect flowering. To ensure that jasmine grows luxuriantly, it needs to be placed in a location where it receives plenty of sunlight year-round.

3. Water and fertilization

Jasmine has a high demand for water. Once the soil surface is dry, it should be watered thoroughly in time to avoid leaf withering and root damage.

In terms of fertilization, since jasmine has the characteristics of continuous growth and flowering, high- phosphorus fertilizer should be selected to promote flower bud differentiation, while ensuring the balance of other nutrients, such as applying Huaduoduo No. 2 fertilizer 2 to 3 times a month. In addition, multi-element slow-release fertilizer can be applied on the surface of the potting soil once every three months to maintain the basic nutrients of the soil.

4. Pruning management

After the jasmine blooms, promptly trimming the remaining flowers and retaining 1 to 2 pairs of leaves can promote the rapid growth of new buds and prepare for the next flowering.

In short, if you do these maintenance points in daily life, jasmine will continue to grow and bloom. Remember to choose a flowerpot of appropriate size, based on soil with good air permeability, ensure sufficient light, and water and fertilize reasonably.
