The language and legend of olive flowers

Olive flower language: peace, tranquility, hope

Olive flower is the national flower of Greece, Tunisia and Cyprus. This flower symbolizes the pride of the Greek nation and the prosperity of the country. When competitions were held, olive branches were used as laurel wreaths to reward the winners. The olive branch is also used as a symbol of peace. Tunisia in North Africa is rich in olives and is known as the "Olive Garden of the World". The flag of Cyprus is printed with two green olive branches, and the olive is regarded as a symbol of peace, wisdom and victory.

The olive branch is the branch of the olive tree, which is the national tree of Greece. The original plant is an evergreen shrub of the Sapotaceae family with beautiful tree shape and lush branches and leaves. It was introduced to my country in the 1960s and is now cultivated as an ornamental plant in many areas. It blooms small white flowers in September every year, bears fruit in October, and the fruits turn from green to red and mature in November.

The legend of olive blossom

According to the Records of Famous Doctors, a rich man in Wujiang got a fishbone stuck in his throat after eating a mandarin fish. The fish bone was stuck in his chest, causing him excruciating pain. Half a month later, he was dying. Suddenly he met a fisherman named Zhang Jiu, who told him to take olives. There were no olives at the time, so he ground olive pits into powder and took it with running water. The bone was then removed and he was healed. Nowadays, people put olives when cooking puffer fish and grouper, because they know that olives can cure all poisons of fish and crabs.

The walnut boat is a folk handicraft specially carved from olive pits into painted boats and small boats. It originated in ancient times and flourished in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. It demonstrates the superb level of ancient craftsmanship and the wisdom of the ancient working people of my country. It is a kind of micro-carving in the walnut carving technique.
In the Ming Dynasty, there was a man with special skills named Wang Shuyuan. He could carve a piece of wood with a diameter of one inch into palaces, utensils, figures, and even birds, beasts, trees, and stones. He could carve the shape of various objects according to the original appearance of the wood, and each had its own expression.

Wang Shuyuan was an art master in carving walnut boats. The walnut boat he carved with the inscription "Su Shi's Visit to Chibi" was later written into an article "Notes on Walnut Boat" by essayist Wei Xueyi, which vividly described this exquisite micro-carving handicraft. Among them are sentences such as "all of them are shaped according to the situation, and each has its own expression" and "and their length is less than an inch, because they are made of a narrow peach kernel." It can be seen that the walnut boat has a high artistic and ornamental value.
