Materials for hydroponic cultivation of Pteris fern

To grow phoenix fern in water, you need to prepare well and choose appropriate materials.

The plant of the phoenix fern has a multi-branched shape. The leaves and crown of the entire plant are relatively scattered, and the leaves are thin and long. Therefore, when choosing a hydroponic container, you need to choose a round glass pot or a square glass pot.

Secondly, you need to choose suitable hydroponic plants. You can choose strong, good-looking, disease- and insect-free Pteris fern plants according to your personal hydroponic needs for hydroponics.

How to hydroponically cultivate Pteris fern

To grow the fern in water, first remove the sand on the rhizome of the fern, rinse it gently with clean water, then place it in the water and use a soft brush to clean the soil on the roots of the fern.

The cleaned fern can be placed in the prepared empty glass pot and filled with clean water. The water should cover one-third of the roots of the fern. Add about 8 grams of baking soda to the water and soak for 3-5 days for sterilization. After the phoenix fern grows new roots, you can add some compound fertilizer solution and adjust the water level appropriately.

Pteris fern hydroponics and maintenance

After the successful hydroponics of Phoenix Fern, the next step is daily maintenance. Basically, the nutrient solution in the glass pot of hydroponic fern needs to be replaced about every 20 days. In addition, the phoenix fern likes a humid living environment. You can spray water on the leaves of the phoenix fern 1-2 times a day using a small sprayer to increase the air humidity in the growth environment of the phoenix fern. What needs attention is the water quality during maintenance. The water quality must be ensured to be good and replaced in time.
