Why do the tips of Dracaena leaves turn yellow and dry?

The dragon tree is known for its remarkable adaptability and is able to grow in a variety of environments. However, when caring for the Dracaena, we may observe yellowing and drying of the tips of its leaves. So why do the tips of Dracaena leaves turn yellow and dry?

1. Improper watering

Cause analysis: Frequent excessive watering will cause water accumulation at the roots of the Dracaena, affecting water absorption and even causing root rot, which in turn causes the leaf tips to dry out.

Solution: Reasonably control the amount of watering and ensure that the drainage holes at the bottom of the flower pot are unobstructed to avoid water accumulation. If the soil becomes compacted, the soil needs to be replaced in time, and watering should be carried out scientifically according to the water requirements of the dragon blood tree.

2. The temperature is too low

Analysis of the cause: Dracaena is sensitive to low temperatures. Its growth stops when the temperature is below 10 degrees. If the temperature is below 5 degrees for a long time, it may cause frostbite. Drying of leaf tips is a common symptom of frostbite.

Solution: Take insulation measures, such as moving the plants into a warm room or using insulation film to maintain a suitable growing temperature.

3. Disease invasion

Cause analysis: Diseases such as leaf blight can cause the leaf tips to dry up, which can be diagnosed by observing the spots on the leaves.

Solution: Remove diseased leaves promptly to prevent the spread of the disease, and use fungicides such as thiophanate to spray at the recommended ratio and treat regularly to control the disease.

4. Unsuitable environment

Cause analysis: Adverse environmental factors such as hot and stuffy environment, lack of ventilation, overgrown weeds or dry air may lead to weak plant growth and drying of leaf tips.

Solution: Improve the plant growth environment, such as moving it to a well-ventilated, clean balcony or outdoors, keep the environment tidy, and take measures to maintain appropriate air humidity.

In general, in addition to the above four situations, naturally aged leaves may also dry up. This is a normal metabolic process and you only need to remove the aging leaves. As long as the appropriate temperature, reasonable watering and good environmental conditions are maintained, the problem of drying up of leaf tips of Dracaena will be effectively improved.
