How to shape Monstera bonsai

The turtle shape of Monstera

The turtle body shape, as the name suggests, means that the Monstera deliciosa is made into a bonsai shaped like a turtle.

After dwarfing the Monstera, select seedlings with 2-3 leaves for shaping. You can choose a round or rectangular flowerpot with a diameter of 20cm and a height of 5cm, and then plant the plant in the pot. When potting, first smash the bottom of the pot and put a piece of broken tile on it, then put the plant in, hold the plant in one hand to keep it suspended in the air, and use the other hand to fill the soil inside, and compact it when it is half full. Then, according to the growth conditions of the aerial roots, divide them into eight shapes on the left and right sides, arrange them into the shape of a turtle's foot, and then continue to fill the soil. After filling, water it thoroughly and wait until it has grown into a seedling.

The vertical shape of Monstera

When shaping, remove the top stem from the mother plant for cuttings. After it germinates and survives, use the iron wire that has been inserted into the soil in advance. The iron wire should be bent into various shapes (S shape) in advance, and then bend the stem of the Monstera into a T shape. The aerial roots should hang naturally along the iron wire. When shaping, be careful not to wrap the wire forcefully.

A well-shaped Monstera looks like a dragon emerging from water, and its roots give the feeling of flowing water in the mountains.

The spiral shape of Monstera

When shaping the Monstera into a spiral shape, there must be at least two aerial roots. When planting, choose a round shallow pot and insert wire into the soil in advance.

When shaping, you can use F-shaped cluster wire to control the height and range of the Monstera, and then use wires of different shapes to fix the Monstera plant so that it grows evenly, and the entire Monstera plant is surrounded by the surface of the pot. As the Monstera grows, its deformed shape needs to be constantly trimmed to make it appear layered.
