How to make a banyan tree bonsai

How to make a banyan tree bonsai

Material selection

Choose ornamental stones with many gaps, good posture and relative independence, such as mother-of-pearl stone, stalactite, axe-split stone, Yingde stone, etc.

Select a banyan tree plant, remove the soil from the pot, and plant it in a pot with bare roots.

Basin

Fix the selected stones to the bottom of the pot with cement or glue.

Remove the selected banyan tree from the pot, soil and cut off excess roots.

Embed the roots of the banyan tree in the gaps between the stones, and use hemp rope to fix the roots to the stones so that the roots are tightly combined with the stones.

Fill the flowerpot with soil. If the roots cannot be covered by the surface of the soil, you can cover them with plastic film or cardboard and then cover them with soil.

After planting, water thoroughly, wet the stones, place them in semi-shade, and add water according to the dryness and wetness of the potting soil. After 10 days, move it to the sun and carry out normal maintenance. Be careful not to damage or sunburn the exposed roots, which may cause local defects. In about half a year, the stone bonsai can be completed.

modeling

Cliff style: Place the stone upright in the pot and plant the banyan tree 2/3 of the way from the pot surface, or directly on the top of the stone, with the trunk drooping and floating.

Bouldering style: The rocks are high and low, so let the roots hold the rocks tightly. The tall stones are thinner, appearing steep, while the short stones are thicker. The branches on the stones are short and strong, appearing as stable as Mount Tai. The two are interdependent, reflecting the natural beauty of the roots.
