How to propagate Dendrobium officinale

Time of choice

It is best to choose a time when growth is better, preferably spring and summer, when all conditions are more suitable for the survival of new plants. If it is winter, the buds will not be exposed to the appropriate high temperature and will be frozen. In addition, it will hibernate in the winter, and the roots will not absorb nutrients to continue growing, so problems are likely to occur, so you must choose the right time.

Steps to reproduction

They mainly propagate by division. When using this method, you must choose mother plants that grow relatively densely, but you cannot choose those that have already bloomed or have not grown fully. It is recommended to carry out division and repotting at the same time, because the time of repotting is not only suitable for growth, but also kills two birds with one stone and saves a lot of effort. When breaking off the orchid seedlings, be gentle so as not to damage the mother plant and the new plant can grow better. After taking down the new plant, place it directly in the prepared substrate. Generally, it will take root at room temperature. The air permeability of the potting soil must be guaranteed, and some substrates that facilitate drainage can be added.

Post-breeding care

This flower originally grew in Australia and other places, so it must prefer a warmer environment. The temperature can be kept at 25-35℃ during the best growth period, but in winter, it is okay to do so if the temperature cannot rise at night, but it must be kept above 15℃. Fertilization should also be kept up, and liquid fertilizer will be enough once every ten days or so. We all know that the amount of fertilizer cannot be too much at one time, otherwise it will definitely burn the plants, so try to use less fertilizer. Except for winter, shade is needed in the other three seasons.
