Banyan tree stump bonsai

What matters in stump bonsai is its antiquity, massiveness and peculiarity, and what is highlighted is the position of the stump. The trunk is thick and curved. Banyan trees are mainly grown from cliffs in the mountains, broken rocks on suburban walls, or by cuttings of thick branches of woody plants.

Stump bonsai is usually shaped in late spring. The plant is transplanted in loose soil. Before transplanting, some unnecessary branches are cut off, as long as it does not look too bare. After 2 to 3 years, when the roots grow strong, you can shape it into a perfect bonsai.

Banyan root bonsai

Tuberous bonsai is one of the most popular forms. The tubers of the banyan tree are plump and large in various shapes. When the tubers are exposed above the pot, such as the ginseng banyan, they give people an incredible sense of beauty.

Professional banyan bonsai growers will dig up wild resources from deep mountains and dense forests, from late spring to early autumn. They will harvest banyan seeds for sowing, and after a year, seedlings will grow and they will cultivate tubers.

Bonsai with multiple banyan trees

The main feature of multi-root bonsai is that the aerial roots and underground aerial roots embrace each other, using roots instead of stakes to form bonsai with completely different shapes. There is a simple way to promote the growth of aerial roots: fill a plastic bag with a small amount of moist river sand, place it where the aerial roots hang, and keep the aerial roots moderately moist.

Another form is to fill the entire pot with aerial roots. The main method is to cut off part of the rhizome exposed on the outside. Soon branches will grow out like twigs. After repeated pruning, the pot will soon be full. When repotting, be sure to lift the roots, separate the tangled roots, and sort out the veins.
