How to grow kale on the balcony

How to grow kale on the balcony

Planting location and tools

Families with courtyards can plant them directly in open space. If not, they can be grown in pots and placed on balconies, windows, etc. After choosing a good planting site, you need to prepare tools and materials. You can choose any container such as a flower pot or foam box, fill it with organic soil, and make sure the soil is more than 20 centimeters thick.

Environmental conditions

Kale is a vegetable that likes warmth and humidity. It can generally be grown at an average temperature above ten degrees Celsius, but the best climate is above twenty-five degrees Celsius. It will grow faster below thirty degrees Celsius. Another thing is that kale needs full sunlight when grown. If there is insufficient sunlight, it will grow slowly. As for the soil, any soil with sufficient fertility, such as garden soil or organic soil, will do.

Planting method

There are two ways to grow kale: sowing and transplanting. The method of raising seedlings by yourself is not suitable for beginners. Today we will mainly talk about transplanting. The best time to buy kale seedlings from the market is generally spring and autumn. It is recommended to plant one kale seedling in a flowerpot at an appropriate depth.

Management Measures

If it is planted in spring, be sure to give kale plenty of sunlight. When it grows into summer, it needs to be slightly avoided from strong light or shaded. Secondly, water must be replenished in time throughout the growth process of kale, so that the flower stalks will be fresh and more tender when eaten.
