What should I do if the jade plant grows too tall? Can I cut the top off?

What should I do if the jade plant grows too tall? Can I cut the top off?

1. What should I do if the Jade Dew plant grows too tall?

The leggy growth of jade plants is often caused by too much shade in the maintenance environment and too much watering. So we only need to increase light and control water based on these two points to improve the tendency of leggy growth of jade plants.

1. More sun and less water: Once we find that the jade plant is growing too tall, we must immediately increase the light, but not too much exposure to the sun, otherwise it will easily get sunburned, especially in summer. It is best to place it in a bright place with diffused light indoors, and get some proper exposure to the sun in the morning and evening. In addition to increasing light, another key measure is to control water. You must wait until the soil is completely dry and observe the leaves of the jade plant are slightly wrinkled before watering.

2. Peel off the leaves: For the jade plant that has already grown too tall, the old leaves that have fallen off cannot be restored. You can peel off the outermost old leaves of the jade plant, leaving the new leaves inside that have not yet grown too tall. Expose it to more sun and less water to prevent it from growing too tall again. The peeled off old leaves can also be used for cuttings.

2. Can the head of Jade Dew be cut if it grows too long?

1. You can cut off the top: After the jade plant grows too tall, in addition to controlling the growth through maintenance, you can also cut off the top to make the overgrown jade plant sprout new buds again, and maybe even grow more jade plants.

2. Beheading method: If you want to behead the jade plant, don't peel off the leaves. Just find a thin thread and cross it around the base of the succulent. Leave a few old leaves under the thread. Use the twisting wire method to cut off the head of the jade plant, wipe the juice flowing out of the cut with a paper towel, sprinkle some carbendazim powder, and the jade plant will burst into multiple heads after beheading. The cut heads can also be used for cuttings.
