The buds of Daphne koreana turn black and fall off. Can they still be saved?

The buds of Daphne koreana turn black and fall off. Can they still be saved?

1. Reasons

The most likely reason why the flower buds of Osmanthus fragrans turn black and fall off is because of too much watering. If you always water it excessively, a large amount of water will not be able to drain out of the potting soil. Its roots will be soaked in water and will rot, which will affect the growth of the flower buds, causing them to turn black and fall off. Or when watering, the water is poured on the flower buds. If the water cannot evaporate, it will accumulate on the flower buds. After a long time, it will cause black rot, and in severe cases, the flower buds will fall off.

2. Can it be saved?

Generally speaking, when this kind of adverse behavior occurs, timely remedial measures can be taken to save it. But if the situation is more serious, the possibility of survival will be smaller.

III. Remedies

It is necessary to place the Osmanthus fragrans in a well-ventilated location to avoid letting it grow in hot and humid ground. Check whether there is water accumulation in the flowerpot. If so, pour out the water. It is best to turn over the soil so that the accumulated water can be drained out faster. Usually, the condition will improve after a period of maintenance like this. If the flower buds still turn black and fall off, the roots should be pruned appropriately. It should be carefully removed from the substrate, the black rot roots should be cut off with scissors, and then disinfected and repotted.
