Why are the leaves of seabuckthorn bonsai withered?

Why are the leaves of seabuckthorn bonsai withered?

1. Too much light

Sea buckthorn is a light-loving plant, but if it grows in a place with too strong light and is relatively dry, transpiration will intensify, causing water loss in the leaves and making them dry. Therefore, it needs to be shaded appropriately, especially when it has not yet grown into a big tree, when it has fewer leaves and is not easy to recover after drying up.

2. Lack of water

Sea buckthorn has a certain degree of drought resistance, but if it does not get water for a long time, the leaves of the plant will dry up due to lack of water. In this case, water needs to be added immediately, but not too much at one time. Water should be added gradually. If you water it too much, it will be detrimental to its recovery. Usually, you should also pay attention to controlling water and keep the soil slightly dry.

3. Fertilizer is too concentrated

Sea buckthorn is very resistant to barrenness and does not require topdressing during its growth. If you want to fertilize it, use slow-acting organic fertilizers. If the fertilizer is too much and too concentrated, it is easy to burn the roots, thereby reducing the absorption of water and causing the leaves to dry out. At this time, you need to clean the potting soil as soon as possible and wash away the excess fertilizer. If the roots are burned, you need to remove the plant from the pot and trim it, cut off the rotten roots and replant it with new soil.

4. Too many branches and leaves

If sea buckthorn has too many branches and leaves, it will consume a lot of water, and yellow leaves will easily appear in this case. You can reduce water evaporation by proper pruning, cutting off some branches and leaves. At the same time, you should water the plant appropriately, increase the amount of water you water every day, and ensure adequate water supply.
